Update from Dr Jo Scott-Jones.
This long awaited document was developed through the National Clinical Leaders Forum that describes the transfer of care and test result responsibility standards as agreed across the sector.
No doubt there will be more work involved in taking these principles and working out how to apply them in the real world, but this is a great foundation for those conversations.
The Regional Primary Care Clinical Leaders (PHO and Te Whatu Ora GP liaisons) will be discussing next steps in making this change work, and we ask that GPs reading the principles and coming across instances when the principles are not applied, please let the local GP liaison, PHO GP leaders, or Dr Jo Scott-Jones know.
It is always helpful to have concrete examples (including NHIs) around which to hang conversations. This will take time to socialise and implement and will be best done by maintaining positive and professional communication across the sector.
Dr Jo Scott-Jones shares his thoughts on the workforce crisis, likening it to the perceived impossibility of the Chernobyl disaster.
