Practices would have received payment for Q4 of the 2021-2022 year in the last week of July. As we noted earlier this was paid in full regardless of achievement to recognise the difficulties your practice has faced due to COVID-19 pressures. However, we need to advise that making 100 per cent payment to all practices in the network will be unaffordable going forwards, and we have no option but to resume paying in line with target achievement.
After some discussion with the board, we have decided to roll forward the 2021-2022 quality plan with no changes for the next twelve months. The goals in the plan remain highly relevant to national and regional objectives such as:
The plan aligns with the national focus on equity, with the quality plan points weighted heavily towards your high needs population. This acknowledges the amount of work required, but also the current inequity in health outcomes within the New Zealand population. There is information to support you on the equity project on our website. This will be expanded over the next month with other examples of pieces of work you could do.
A key driver behind the decision to roll forwards the current plan was the challenges COVID-19 has presented to general practice. There will be initiatives within and around your practice to help with delivering care related to the plan – we know there is much work to be done to achieve against the plan in this upcoming year, as well as catching up from pervious years.
Because the quality plan will remain the same for the next 12 months - and with one eye on a greener environment, please wipe down and reuse your practice wall plan poster.
