The College Board has decided to grant a 12-month extension to practices holding Cornerstone Bronze tier accreditation. Practices with a deadline of early 2022 are now due to complete by early 2023.
The College takes its role of maintaining the standards for general practice very seriously. Ensuring safe and competent general practices means that New Zealanders can be confident in the delivery of their healthcare in safe settings.
However, the College also recognises that what creates safe practices is the people working in them and that managing COVID-19, while delivering quality healthcare, has put additional pressure on teams.
By granting this extension the Board has recognised the pressure that practices are currently facing and understands that general practice will have an ongoing role to play in the management of COVID-19 in their communities.
Practices that are getting an extension should have received an email from the College and accreditation dates have been updated.
