The RNZCGP (the College) has updated its two quality standards and these were released on 1 April 2020. They are available on the RNZCGP website.
In March the College supplied all practices with a transition plan outlining what you need to do, by when, and costs. If you didn’t receive a transition plan please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a copy, otherwise your practice support person will be able to let you know the dates you need to meet any parts of the plan by.
Any practices with expiry dates this year have been extended to December due to COVID-19. We will work with each practice to identify reasonable completion timeframes, noting that this is likely to extend beyond your expiry date. We recommend you maintain activities towards the new standard so you do not find yourself having a lot of activity to do over a short time.
In previous communication we have suggested you do not pay the invoices until the costs have been agreed at PSAAP. We will keep you up to date with discussions occurring here.
For Cornerstone practices the annual cycle was suspended late last year to enable the College to transition to their new standards. This means that practices who are Cornerstone accredited and in years 3 and 4 of their old cycle do not need to upload information to any College website at this stage. It is advisable that you keep any policies, processes and training requirements up to date as these will all be required to be met in the new standard.
Finally, we will continue to support practices through Foundation Standard and are currently training assessors who will be able to assess your practices. We expect assessments to start later in the year and will be in contact to start arranging times.
