Following the very successful free Community Surgery days last year, Braemar Hospital will again be opening its doors for a free surgery day on Saturday 13 September.
Surgeons, anesthetists, Braemar Hospital nurses, clinical and non-clinical staff, and friends of Braemar, will be volunteering on the day. Braemar Hospital will have three theatres and the endoscopy suite running for a full day in addition to Midland Cardiovascular services providing free echocardiogram appointments.
GPs can submit referrals for patients who have been declined, are facing a significant wait time in the public system, and do not have health insurance, ACC cover, nor the financial means to fund private treatment for the following procedures.
Referral forms can be found on the Braemar Charitable Trust website (PDF). They should be filled in and emailed to Trust Manager Paula Baker no later than 31 July 2025.
GPs must include all the information requested, including photos, X-rays and the patient’s medical history, so there is sufficient clinical information to decide whether the patient can have surgery as part of the Braemar Charitable Trust Community Surgery Programme.
