The Ministry of Health will provide a refund for up to ten doses of unused AFLURIA QUAD (AQ) or FLUAD QUAD (FQ) from the 2021 influenza immunisation programme. This is in an addition to the refunds provided by Seqirus.
The Ministry appreciates that the 2021 influenza immunisation programme was impacted greatly by the COVID-19 pandemic, both through lockdowns and the parallel roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine. The sector has done tremendous work for immunisations over 2021 despite the issues that have been faced.
The Ministry acknowledge there is unused influenza vaccine that is unlikely to be used this year. To address this, the Ministry is offering a refund of one box of AQ or FQ.
Please ensure you continue to have stock available until 31 December 2021. Collection of returnable stock will commence in mid-January 2022. You have until 31 January 2022 to submit your claim to Healthcare Logistics (HCL), but it is suggested that you do so before Christmas. Influenza vaccines from the 2021 season cannot be used for the 2022 influenza season due to differences in strains.
The Ministry understand that some claims have already been made. If you have already submitted a claim for stock and your original claim included details of all the stock you wish to have collected as well as that for which you expect a refund, you do not need to do anything further as HCL will automatically increase the number of doses you will get a credit for from 10 to 20 doses. However, if you only submitted a claim for the previous maximum refundable amount (10 doses), please email Flu@healthcarelogistics.co.nz to advise how much stock of each presentation you currently hold and wish to return.
If you have not yet made claim please complete the table in the Ministry of Health letter and email it to Flu@healthcarelogistics.co.nz.
