Information on how to keep you and your practice team connected, safe and well during COVID-19.
Instigate a morning huddle if not already in place (contact your practice support person for advice).
Ensure usual communication channels can be accessed by staff working from home - consider WhatsApp/Microsoft Teams/Closed Facebook group.
Remember culture is everything, keep it kind and respectful to each other.
The Pinnacle HR team have prepared a working from home policy template (found in files and links below). Please read through it and adapt it to your business needs. For support you are welcome to contact the HR director, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Recognising that each individual and each practice needs to make this decision for themselves, we recommend you should not be seeing patients face to face if you:
We suggest that you man the phones and provide virtual care consultations.
If you are over 60 (but <70) and otherwise healthy (i.e. no medical conditions) you may consider still working but we would recommend non-frontline duties including virtual care, virtual triage or reviewing non-infectious patients already well triaged.
Do NOT stop any medication you are currently taking as a result of feeling at increased risk from COVID-19.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a well respected organisation, providing counselling and advice to employees.
As Pinnacle practice staff, you are entitled to up to three free one-hour sessions (per issue) with a counsellor. This can be for a work related issue or a personal situation.
EAP counsellors routinely provide e-counselling, so are experienced in working virtually.
The service is completely confidential and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Pinnacle is not informed of your contact with EAP.
To access the service, call 0800 327 669 or visit www.eapservices.co.nz.
We've put together a checklist to help you assess your preparedness (see files and links below), check and refine your processes.
We were also lucky this week to visit Student Health Services at the University of Waikato who let us film a quick video showing how they have got their practice ready - our massive thanks to Dr Kym Christodoulou for her help.
