The Braemar Charitable Trust provides access to free private surgical procedures for patients who cannot afford private care and are unable to access surgery through the public health system. This includes people without health insurance or ACC cover and who lack the financial means to pay privately.
The Trust focuses on surgery not routinely available through Midland’s regional hospitals. Their most recent event, held in September 2025, enabled 32 patients to receive procedures including dental and general surgery, colonoscopies, gynaecology, and children’s ENT procedures such as grommets, tonsils and adenoids.
This was the second successful event of its kind, and while these opportunities are currently held infrequently, the Trust is eager to expand the programme in future.
