From July 2026, updated capitation re-weighting factors will be reflected in the capitation payment dataset Pinnacle receives from Health New Zealand. These changes follow acceptance of the PSAAP funding offer to general practices.
The revised methodology includes gender, age, deprivation, multimorbidity, and rurality to better align capitation funding with patient need.
Practices will continue to receive their capitation remittance advice through the Practice Portal. The file format will remain largely unchanged and will include:
Due to the significant increase in combined variables influencing capitation payments, the capitation spreadsheet will no longer contain a demographic breakdown.
