The fully funded Seasonal Pressures Clinical Telehealth Service currently being provided by Whakarongorau, has been extended until 30 November 2023.
This is to allow a transition period with the implementation of the national rural clinical telehealth service.
Te Whatu Ora is currently finalising the contract with the preferred provider for the national rural clinical telehealth service. This service is intended to begin at the end of October/first week of November.
Whakarongorau has been proactively engaging with eligible general practices to offer them the interim service. There will not be any public communication. This is to ensure that patients are only accessing the service when there are no alternatives available to them with their eligible general practice.
This continues to be an after-hours and overflow service that will supplement the general practices’ and PHOs existing arrangements. It is available for both enrolled and casual patients.
