This month, Collaborative Aotearoa has launched two of its three new eLearning modules focused on call handling and clinical triage, designed for call handlers and clinicians working in general practice. These courses are accessible on Collaborative Aotearoa's learning management system.
Course 1: Introduction to Effective Call Handling in General Practice
This 20–30-minute Foundational course helps call handlers and medical administrators understand their vital role in shaping patient experience and supporting quality care through effective communication. Build confidence and competence in managing calls, de-escalating distressed callers, and improving patient experience.
Course 2: Assessing Patient Needs Before Clinical Triage
This 20–30-minute module provides call handlers and administrative staff with practical tools to assess patient needs and urgency before clinical triage, ensuring timely and appropriate care. Safely assess urgency, ask effective questions, and guide callers in line with clinical triage processes.
Course 3: The Clinical Triage Telephone Assessment – A Quick Guide for Clinicians
This 40-60-minute course is a practical eLearning module for prescribing health professionals working in general practice to confidently deliver brief, focused clinical triage calls, supporting efficient, equitable care. Apply a 5-step structure for triage calls, integrate equity considerations, and streamline triage workflows.
