The New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes (NZSSD) is currently accepting applications for the following grants.
There are eight awards available per year, two each quarter and are open to NZSSD financial members. The amount awarded will be at the discretion of the Executive with awards not usually more than $1,500 per individual. An award will be granted to an individual only once within a year. This grant closes 31 July, 2025.

Grant 1: Registered nurses, with a focus in diabetes care, working toward Registered Nurse Prescribing in Specialist and Primary Care Teams authorisation. This grant, for semester 2, closes on 4 July, 2025.
Grant 2: Applications for Nurse Practitioner Practicum 2025. This grant is open for applications throughout the year.

Furthermore, the Ministry recommends all frontline doctors and nurse practitioners in the community, rural hospitals and emergency departments, engage with training such as that available via Te Pou on the application of the Mental Health Act.
This service is designed to ensure low acuity presentations to Taranaki Base Hospital are actively redirected back to primary care.
