Te Whatu Ora update on current measles situation

Lakes | Taranaki | Waikato | Tairāwhiti | Clinical | 23/10/2025

Te Whatu Ora is responding to an escalating national risk of measles.

Please remain vigilant for people with measles symptoms, including fever, cough and rash, especially in anyone who was present at any of the locations of interest.

General practices are reminded to ensure all team members are protected. Staff born after 1 January 1969 who can’t confirm two documented MMR doses should be immunised. It is safe to vaccinate even if already immune.

Please continue to promote and support MMR immunisation in your communities. Since late September, nearly 8,000 MMR doses have been delivered nationwide, this is a 20 per cent increase on this time last year.
