All practices in the Te Tairawhiti region can claim for this service, provided they have suitably trained staff able to perform the required procedures.
This programme is also funded for patients not enrolled in your practice, who may be referred to you via another service/practice. In these cases, you can only invoice for this service and no other off set can be claimed.
Patients referred to your practice from secondary care for management of abnormal uterine bleeding OR

Please note that you cannot claim a follow up consultation for the same day you claim for a biopsy and/or Mirena insertion.
Iron infusions are funded via a separate claiming pathway.
A funded pelvic ultrasound can be requested under this pathway using your usual POAC process - please indicate on the referral that this is funded under the Abnormal Uterine Bleeding pathway.

Pipelle biopsy education: $500.00
One off payment for education attendance at Gisborne Hospital by any clinical member of staff. This is claimed via the Primary Options team- please email infoprimaryoptions@pinnacle.health.nz with the details of staff attending training.
Practices are required to provide sufficiently detailed consultation notes to determine appropriate use of funding.
It has been recommended that in addition to a good assessment and history, the eligibility criteria are clearly stated in the clinical notes.
There is no charge to the patient for this service.

This document outlines the national guidelines for the assessment and management of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB) in non-pregnant women of reproductive age in Aotearoa New Zealand. It emphasises an evidence-based approach, incorporating cultural considerations for Māori and Pacific peoples who experience disproportionately higher rates of AUB and endometrial cancer.
The Ministry of Health introduced changes to the claiming process for maternity services in November 2021. PMS systems have been updated to reflect these changes and this will go a long way to guide providers to through the new claims available.
