This study day is for all nurses and allied health who work with whānau living with Type 2 diabetes – whether you are looking to upskill or refresh your knowledge. It will cover a wide variety of topics plus an opportunity for case studies. Certificates for CME will be made available following the course.
Session timetable
8.30-8.45am: Registration and welcome.
8.45-9.00am: Karakia, introductions, and housekeeping.
9am- 9:50am: Pathophysiology of diabetes.
9:50-10:20: Principles of lifestyle management.
10.20-10.40am: Morning tea – provided.
10.40-11:30am: Medications – complication centric algorithm and when to consider insulin.
11.30am-12.00pm: BGL monitoring + CGM.
12.00-12.45pm: sick day + hypo management.
12.45-1.30pm: Lunch – BYO or visit the local cafes.
1.30-2.00pm: Health improvement practitioner.
2:00-2:45pm: Diabetes complications and management.
2.45-3:30pm: Case studies.
3.30-3.45pm: Services available for referral.
3.45-4.00pm: Final questions, evaluation and closing karakia.
