Waikato personal safety and de-escalation training for frontline health workers

These sessions are offered either online or in person.

This is an expression of interest for a valuable training opportunity designed to help Waikato frontline health workers feel more confident and prepared in challenging situations.

This two-hour session focuses on practical personal safety strategies and enhanced situational awareness.

Participants will learn effective de-escalation techniques and tactical communication skills to help calm and manage individuals who may be distressed, elevated, or potentially threatening. The training is relaxed, safe, and highly interactive, offering ample opportunities to discuss challenges, share experiences, and address questions throughout.

Ngā Manukura is a clinical leadership programme for Māori nurses and midwives. To date, thirty-six cohorts are either in progress or have completed the programme. Enrolments are open for 2026 cohorts, with 25 places available in each, for those who meet the criteria.
