Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced general practitioner (PDF) to join the National Blood Management Group, the advisory body overseeing policy, governance, and best practice for blood components and blood products across the health system.
About the NBMG
The group provides expert advice, supports national consistency, and works closely with the New Zealand Blood Service to ensure high-quality, equitable use of blood products.
Ideal candidates will have:
clinical experience using blood and blood products
commitment to improving patient outcomes
knowledge of local systems and practice
ability to collaborate in a national, multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
advising on blood product policy and practice
supporting national harmonisation and stewardship
communicating with regions/districts
overseeing requirements and resolving issues
working with other governance groups to support national health priorities.
Commitment and application
This voluntary role involves attending quarterly virtual/in-person meetings and contributing to working groups.
