Te Whatu Ora Waikato has made a report available (opens to PDF) to PHOs illustrating the average wait times (in days) for first specialist appointments (FSA) in secondary care. Please note this is an average across all priority groups. This report is updated monthly by Te Whatu Ora Waikato.
Most specialities have three priorities ('P1 urgent', 'P2 semi urgent', 'P3 routine')
If the referral is urgent, the patient should be notified shortly after receipt of the referral (most often via phone).
For the other priorities, in most instances the appointment notification will be sent at least a month prior to the appointment date.
