Julie Daltrey (NP MN PhD Candidate, Paewai Whakaako Ngaio / Professional Teaching Fellow) is leading a research project about the impact of dementia at University of Auckland.
The project reviews the impact of dementia on toileting, the challenges that presents and the solutions people find.
Practices can get involved with this project by distributing or displaying the flyer, so patients and/or caregivers can self-identify and contact researchers to get a copy of the participant information sheet and the cover letter if they are interested in participating in the study.
The University of Auckland are asking that awareness of the study is raised so people wanting to participate can do so. This might include things such as flyers in the waiting room, practice social media/mail outs, word of mouth etc. The more awareness raising there is, the more likely it is that someone wanting to talk will contact Julie.
People with memory loss are being included in the study. There is ethical approval for this based on the researcher (Julie Daltrey) making an assessment of the person’s ability to consent at the time of interview. Interviews do not progress if consent is not possible.
For more information please contact Julie Daltrey, nurse practitioner/ researcher.
