Aotearoa New Zealand is transitioning from Comirnaty JN.1 to Comirnaty LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine.
Practices can now order Comirnaty 10mcg LP.8.1 for use from 1 January 2026. There is no change to vial presentation or pack size.
Current 10mcg JN.1 stock expires on 31 December 2025. Please continue using JN.1 stock throughout December and destroy any remaining vials on your final working day of 2025. Disposal instructions will be included with LP.8.1 deliveries.
The last delivery date for 2025 is 23 December, with deliveries resuming from 7 January 2026.
Ages 6 months to 4 years:
Continue using Comirnaty 3mcg JN.1. Transition to Comirnaty 3mcg LP.8.1 is planned for February 2026.
Ages 12 years and over:
Continue using Comirnaty 30mcg JN.1. Transition to Comirnaty 30mcg LP.8.1 is planned for February–March 2026.
During the transition period, both JN.1 and LP.8.1 will appear in AIR. Please ensure the correct vaccine is selected and recorded. All COVID-19 vaccinations must continue to be recorded in AIR.
