Waikato Primary Mental Health team service update

Waikato | Clinical | 16/06/2026
  • Dr Tony Muller will be on leave from 22–26 June 2026 and will not be available for calls or BPAC requests during this time. He will respond to any queries or BPAC referrals on his return.
  • From 1 July 2026, adults aged 65 and over will be entitled to Packages of Care from the primary mental health service. All existing inclusion and exclusion criteria remain unchanged.
  • A PHO Psychiatry Service GP Satisfaction Survey will be circulated shortly, your feedback is greatly valued.
  • A reminder to please ask patients whether they have telehealth capacity before submitting a referral. With limited provider availability across some areas, telehealth can reduce wait times and remove the need for travel. Additional psychologists are coming on board to help meet demand, and these roles will largely be delivered via telehealth.
