Vaccination of people and whānau eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.

Which practices can claim for this service?

Practices that have met the requirements of COVID-19 Operating Guidelines and have been signed off as a vaccinating practice.   

Who is eligible for this service?
  • Eligible people aged 6 months and over.
  • The person does not need to be a NZ citizen or enrolled with the practice to be eligible.
Who is excluded from the service?
  • Those not eligible under the Ministry of Health criteria.
Claiming guidelines

When delivering the COVID-19 vaccination, you must send the vaccination data into the Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR). Pinnacle will automatically pay based on data in AIR. The price per dose for providing the COVID-19 immunisation service is as follows.

Price is GST inclusive.  

Normal hours (and after hours from 1 December 2024):

  • $41.46 for each COVID-19 vaccination administered.

No additional fees can be charged to the person. 

Does the patient have to pay?

No.

How is the service funded?

This service is funded via MOH through Te Whatu Ora.

Hiberix and Varivax not funded from 1 December 2024

Funding for Hiberix and Varivax will cease from 1 December 2024. The vaccines have been replaced by Act-HIB and Varilrix respectively. Practices should have stock of the new vaccines and should have already made the swap to these. If you have old stock remaining on 1 December, it needs to be returned to Propharma using usual processes.
