Mobile Health webinar recording - Physician associates: Help relieve the GP shortage

Published: 26/06/2023 | Video

Find out about the physician associate (PA) role, scope and education, including information about the benefits to your practice and if a PA is a fit for you.

Tiffany Hodgson is the longest-standing PA in NZ and has been working in the Waikato since 2010, currently at Cambridge Family Health.

She assisted Health Workforce NZ with recruiting practices for the second PA demonstration in general practice and emergency medicine and became a founder of the NZ PA Society in 2014.

In 2020 she helped form “GP Business Solutions” to recruit experienced PA’s from overseas to help fill the gaps in NZ’s increasingly busy clinics, urgent cares and hospitals.

She is passionate about finding PA’s that are a good fit for NZ and provide quality patient care.

Pinnacle continues to support the PA association and their application to reach the status of registered health professionals in Aotearoa New Zealand. Once they have this status, there is the liklihood that local training programmes will be developed and issues like prescribing, lab access, radiology ordering and referral can be explored.

Recruiting physician associates can be done through the NZ Physician Associate Society or specialised recruitment agencies like GP Business Solutions.
