This information is for primary healthcare staff calling a non-immediately life threatening ambulance in areas covered by a St John Communications Centre (the Northern, Midland and South Island areas).
St John now prefer that healthcare personnel phone 0800 262 665 when requesting an ambulance.
They have enhanced their system to ensure whenever possible calls coming in on this number are answered by a clinician in order to ensure the most appropriate response for the patient.
Where possible St John request a clinical person, such as a GP or nurse, make the call.
