Te Whatu Ora Data & Digital team has identified an error with the Regional Clinical Portal (rCP), a shared platform used to varying degrees by all hospitals within the Te Manawa Taki region.
From Friday, 13 October, documents and attachments which have been uploaded to the portal are being queued but not written to the database. This means they are not lost, but cannot be accessed and read by our clinicians and support staff. All older documents remain accessible as normal.
The rCP is used as the primary patient management system for Lakes, Tairāwhiti, and Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty districts. Taranaki and Waikato have not yet transitioned to this system but will access it in relation to patients who are being transferred.
Any information which is input directly to the portal remains accessible as normal. The core function of rCP has not been affected. The issue is only affecting attachments being uploaded.
This means an alternative solution will be needed for sharing those scanned or hard copy documents while the database is being repaired. It is anticipated many of these patients will be given a printed copy of their record to take with them, and the GP might consider asking for this.
Clinicians should continue to scan and upload files as normal as they will remain in the queue for inclusion once this database is running. It is expected this error will be fixed within the next week.
