Te Whatu Ora - Taranaki has developed new pathway on BPAC called the ‘Taranaki Orthopaedic Triage service’ (TOTs). Te Whatu Ora Taranaki thank practices for their continued support of it.
TOTs will now be made permanent with an extended capacity covering shoulder pathologies.
You may be aware TOTs is an early triage pathway for patients experiencing hip, knee and now shoulder musculoskeletal conditions run by Advanced Practitioner (AP) Physiotherapists. The patient will be provided with education and exercises to help manage their condition, with the options for either follow up appointments, referral to conservative management pathways such as MSK physiotherapy, connected with community providers or a first specialist appointment (FSA) with the surgeon.
Referral as per BPAC with appropriate imaging or this can be organised during assessment.
This service in run within the orthopaedic service. Referrals are received via BPAC and prioritised, with appointments available in both New Plymouth and Hāwera.
If you have any concerns or questions, please contact tots@tdhb.org.nz.
