As previously advised, the Health Payments Integrity Team at Te Whatu Ora is undertaking a data match to check the eligibility of individuals enrolled on PHO registers by comparing them with information held by Immigration New Zealand.
Initial planning had the data match starting in June 2023 but there was a delay to vary the Information Matching Agreement entered into in 2011 under section 300 of the Immigration Act 2009, to update it with current legislation and other references.
A memorandum covering the changes has now been signed by the relevant CEOs of Manatū Hauora, Ministry of Health and Hīkina Whakatutuki, Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment.
The data match will now be undertaken in March 2024 using the March 2024 PHO register. It is anticipated that letters will be sent to patients who may not be eligible for subsidised health care during mid-April 2024.
Te Pae Tata was launched by the health minister in Taupō last week. It is the first New Zealand Health Plan published under the new Pae Ora legislation.
