Funding is available to assist people in the Hauraki Coromandel areas affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. This funding is accessible for all Hauraki residents whose mild or moderate mental health wellbeing has been negatively affected due to flooding events.
To be eligible for this service, individuals must be a resident in Hauraki Coromandel area.
Those who do not meet the eligibility criteria to access this programme include patients:

People have a choice to take part in either informal or structured therapy groups facilitated by a registered health professional.
An open group has a casual or informal approach. This would suit those who prefer to have the choice to attend casually and feel comfortable to engage in group activities.
The focus of this group is to learn and practise mindfulness-based activities to improve your mental health wellbeing.
Kōrero Mai, Lets Talk: 1 hour/week
Week 1: Benefits of Mindfulness and Box Breathing (participating)
Week 2: Benefits of Mindfulness and describe using 5 senses (taste, sight, smell, sound, and touch)
Week 3: Benefits of Mindfulness and Attention Focus while engaging in functional activities.
Week 4: Benefits of Mindfulness and Visualization
This group repeats every month.
Pacifico is a mental health organisation based in Whitianga that provides therapy, e-therapy, social work, nursing and general well-being advice to people from all age groups. When you engage with Pacifico services, building meaningful and trustworthy relationships is a priority, with you and those who are important to you.
Week 1 – Initial Screening PHQ9 and GAD7 -Psychoeducation on What Depression and Anxiety is in relation to her physiological and psychological states. Introduction of Small Steps NZ Website and building capacity of breath – home practice – 5 minutes morning and night using breathing tool
Week 2 – Window of tolerance – tools/strategies to support regulating emotional responses when faced with external or/and internal stressors. Introduction to Blue Zones project and what supports living a long life – SEEDS discussed.
Week 3 – CBT – identifying relationship between thought content, emotions, and behavioural responses. Implementing strategies to support reframing / redirecting or distracting negative thoughts, implementing positive behavioural activation. Introduction of mindfulness practices
Week 4 - Relaxation and Sleep Hygiene – Developing skills and strategies to ensure healthy self-care and improved sleep disturbances. Reflection on group learnings, complete feedback, and screening PHQ9 and GAD7.
Week 1 -Understanding perinatal anxiety & depression and treatment options.
Week 2 - Matrescence, self-care & transition to parenthood
Week 3 - Nutritional and practical support for improved wellbeing & confidence going into birth.
Week 4 - Learn tools for your toolkit such as; NLP, ACT, CBT, Mindfulness & Meditation Strategies
Come and meet other mothers, babies are welcome to join (of course).

Week 2 -Navigating Matrescence; the psychological, emotional & physical journey of motherhood
Week 3 - Managing Relationships, 'Mum'- guilt, rage & Exhaustion
Week 4 - Reducing Maternal Overwhelm & Coping strategies through breath work, CBT, ACT, mindfulness & meditation.
Develop your own Action Plan & support plan in place (developing your toolkit).
Whānau can be referred into these therapy groups via their GP, non-governmental organisation service, or self referral.
