Measles vaccination messaging collateral

Published: 07/09/2022 | 2 links

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki has created new electronic messaging collateral to help increase the coverage for measles vaccinations. This messaging is suitable for use nationwide.

Suggested messaging for people born between 1989 and 2004

SMS

Are you protected from measles? If you were born between 1989 and 2004 you might not have received the two doses of the measles vaccine you need to be fully protected. If you’re not sure whether you had both doses, talk to the team at <clinic name> to arrange free vaccinations.

Email

Subject line: Make sure you’re protected against measles

Preheader: Measles is a serious disease – are you fully immunised?

Are you protected against measles? You need two doses of the measles vaccine to be fully protected and we know that some people born between 1989 and 2004 may have missed one or both doses.

If you were vaccinated, these doses may be recorded in your Plunket or Well Child Tamariki Ora book (if you have access to your copy). If you’re not sure, play it safe and get vaccinated. There are no safety concerns with having extra doses.

Measles is a fast-spreading disease that can make you very sick. About 1 in every 10 people with measles needs to go to hospital, and in serious cases measles can cause long-term health issues or even be fatal.

The good news is that the vaccine is very effective and is available for FREE at <name of location>.

Need more information?

Call Healthline on 0800 611 116 or talk to your doctor.

Preheader: Measles is a serious disease – have your tamariki been immunised?

Tamariki need two doses of the measles vaccine to be protected against measles – one at 12 months and one at 15 months. Check with your doctor or your Well Child Tamariki Ora (Plunket) book to see if your child is up-to-date with their measles vaccinations.

If your tamariki is older than 12 months and hasn’t had the first dose yet – or you’re not sure – play it safe, and get them vaccinated. There are no safety concerns with having extra doses.
