Alternative counselling and support services

In addition to Pinnacle MHN primary mental health services, here are some other other alternatives that may be available.

  • Salvation Army - Support services and counselling for alcohol and drugs.
  • Lifeline - Telephone counselling.
  • 1737 - Online, telephone support services/counselling.
  • The Lowdown - a website to help young New Zealanders recognise and understand depression or anxiety.
  • Women's Refuge - Support and help for women and children experiencing family violence.
  • HereToHelpU - Support for Waikato people who are suffering hardship or needing help.
  • Te Whatu Ora Waikato Social Services Register - A list of social services compiled Te Whatu Ora Waikato Suicide Prevention and Postvention coordinator.
  • Small Steps is a series of free digital self-help tools designed to support people to maintain or improve their wellbeing. They are for anyone in Aotearoa, with a particular focus on 19-35 year olds and Māori and Pasifika populations. The website can be used even when someone does not have any data or credit on their mobile phone.

Alternatives to funded care

If you are a practice with a HIP, please use this funded service for your patients. For patients outside the target population of Māori, Pacific, youth and low income (Community Services Card Holder) target populations, please consider other options available such as the following.
